Press Release - Q2.2017 financial statements

End of Q2.2017, HSC revenue reached VND310bn, profit before tax reached VND174bn, increased by 60% and 70% respectively compared to same period last year. HSC’s cumulative revenue for 1H.2017 was VND530bn, increased by 46% same period last year, completed 52% target of 2017. HSC’s cumulative profit after tax reached VND231bn, corresponding to 58% increment to same period last year, completed 64% yearly target (approved at AGM on April 2017).

All business lines of HSC continue to growth. Brokerage and margin lending are the top 2 contributors in revenue structure. Brokerage cumulative revenue 1H.2017 reached VND210bn, increased by 28% same period last year and accounted for 40% HSC’s total revenue. Margin lending cumulative revenue 1H.2017 reached VND191bn, increased by 22% same period last year and accounted for 36% HSC’s total revenue. Proprietary trading cumulative revenue 1H.2017 reached VND97bn, accounted for 18% HSC’s total revenue (in comparison with 8% revenue contributed in same period last year). Corporate finance advisory cumulative revenue skyrocketed compared to same period last year, reached VND23bn thanks to the successful completion of serveral deals. The notable deal was the auction of 120 million shares of Viglacera. In this deal, HSC was the lead advisor and underwriter.  

End of Q2.2017, HSC’s total assets reached VND4,855bn, increased by VND1,238bn since early this year. Our total assets increased due to increasing bank loans for business activities in margin lending. Bank loans was mainly used to promote margin lending activities with average balance of VND2,820bn, increased by 16% same period last year (VND2,436bn).

Earnings per share 1H.2017 was 1,800 VND, highly increased (56%) from 1,155VND of 1H.2016. Return on average assets (ROAA) and return on average equity (ROAE) reached 6.3% and 9.9% respectively, in comparison with 7.8% and 12.8% in the same period of last year.
